Worship Committee:\u00a0 <\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">See attached report.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Buildings &amp; Grounds: <\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">See attached Team Reports file.\u00a0 Pastor added that the sound system went out last Sunday.\u00a0 We will need to figure out\/fix the issue soon (possibly replace system).\u00a0 Ryan Miller may be looking into this soon.\u00a0 David Wein knows some vendors through work.\u00a0 He will get information on them so we can look at getting some quotes.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Youth: <\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">See attached Team Reports file.\u00a0 Jan noted that her granddaughter is coming home from school for a short time and is looking for volunteer opportunities.\u00a0 She may be interested in helping out with the Youth.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Social Media: <\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">See attached Team Reports file.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Fellowship and Life: <\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Will follow up again after Christmas.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\">We Care: <\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Will follow up again after Christmas.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Stewardship: <\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">See attached Team Reports file.\u00a0 Wayne gave council members a handout from the stewardship committee which recommends moving forward with the 3 stewardship goals from the campaign.\u00a0 It was noted that there is a grand plan for the internship program which would reduce the revenue needed to fully fund all three goals.\u00a0 Pastor Kevin added that the grand is based on a lottery system (it is possible that we wouldn\u2019t get it, but then we wouldn\u2019t get the intern either).\u00a0 If we received the grant, the cost to LOL would be $10,000\/year for the intern (vs $30,000), but the commitment would be for 2 years instead of 1.\u00a0 The intern would also not begin until August 2020.\u00a0 Pastor Kevin will check for more information on some of the details (housing allowance, intern salary, benefits, etc.)\u00a0 Pastor Kevin also noted that if we go ahead and the funds don\u2019t come in, we will then move into fundraising.\u00a0 Gail made a motion to forward with the stewardship goals (making youth director full-time, taking on a seminary intern and increasing the budget where needed with extra revenue).\u00a0 Jeff Jahnke seconded (John Penza abstained from voting due to spousal employment at youth director).\u00a0 All in favor.\u00a0 None opposed.\u00a0 Motion Approved.\u00a0 Pastor Kevin will talk to Amy Penza regarding timing for beginning full-time as LOL youth director. Wayne added that the job description for Amy Penza will probably need to be updated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Old Business<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Jeff updated council that Acuity will now continue coverage and will accept rented auto coverage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Password and login information needed in office \u2013 Pastor and Jeff are getting a password and log in \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 information list to keep in the safe.\u00a0 Jeff asked that if we can think of things that we need password and \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 log in information for to let him know what it is.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Staff gift request:\u00a0 put in newsletter \u2013 Jeff wanted to know if there should be an announcement made in \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 church.\u00a0 Jand and Wayne noted that it has been in the bulletin the past two weeks and the gift is due this \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 week, so Pastor decided that we do not need to make an additional announcement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Constitution update\u2014Jan Olsen.\u00a0 Big Thank You.\u00a0 Copies available. \u2013 Jan handed copies out to council \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 members present.\u00a0 Pastor asked if there were a lot of changes needed.\u00a0 Jan said that there were many to \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 chapters 10-14.\u00a0 She will be gone for the next 3 months, so the constitution revisions need to be \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 reviewed in the meantime.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jan will get the revised constitution to 2 congregation members for review (Jody Mueller and Joe Groholski submitted possible names.\u00a0 Jeff said that we need 1 persona and possibly 1 alternate.\u00a0 He is going to contact the names that were submitted to gauge interest.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wayne attended the Thanksgiving service at First Presbyterian.\u00a0 They had important items in boxes in front of each pew.\u00a0 He is wondering if we could put something on the backs of the chairs here at LOL.\u00a0 This way, things like the giving cards would be readily available.\u00a0 He will look into options.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span Youth had an outing at Brennand Airport scheduled for 12\/4<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Youth are volunteering at Thrift on 12\/21<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Youth Service is scheduled for January 19<sup>th<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Amy is working with the youth on making prayer a daily routine.\u00a0 They will incorporate the idea of prayer into the youth service in January.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; They are also talking about individual gifts and are each saying something they think is special about the others.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Amy had been thinking of breaking the youth up into smaller groups when they are there.\u00a0 Some are there who really want to learn.\u00a0 Some are there more to socialize.\u00a0 She does not want to separate them back into high school and middle school groups as the majority of the kids attending are in 8<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0and 9<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0grade.\u00a0 She is also hoping to keep up the numbers as the large 9<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0grade group gets older.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Amy is looking into more \u201coutside of church\u201d activities for next year (movies, bowling etc.) especially with the larger group we have now.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Amy is in need of another adult helper (because of the size of the group).\u00a0 There is one person who may be interested.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Amy would also like to start meeting with the kids one-on-one<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; We discussed email from Jan regarding the continuing resolution of the constitution\u00a0 (Youth Team portion).\u00a0 Will follow up with Jan in a separate email.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stewardship<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">The number of intents have certainly slowed.\u00a0 Ushers helped by handing them out at both services this week, asking &#8220;Do you need a Generosity intent card?&#8221;.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t know how many they handed out.\u00a0 But we received\u00a0<\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\">only five more\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">cards Sunday.\u00a0 Hopefully more will come in the mail this week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\">We&#8217;re at 78.5% of our goal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Pledged giving is $97K (annual) short of fully funding our three priorities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0 total pledges out of regular givers and 63 non-givers (207 total)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; 10 non-givers have made pledges<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; 75% of pledges are an increase over 2019 giving<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; If we take our pledged giving AND current unpledged with no increases, our giving income is estimated to be $363K.\u00a0 This is $25K short of our goal and $45K more than the projected 2019 income.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Known non-givers have not reacted to the campaign.\u00a0 Only 10 of 63 have committed.\u00a0 This is great, but as our biggest growth area, we didn&#8217;t see many of them willing to open their hearts and wallets to our church.\u00a0 10-15 more committed givers from these folks would make a difference.\u00a0 Is this a membership challenge?<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Our goal is $418,000 to fully fund all three goals<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Pledged revenue is $327,954 (80% of goal)<\/p>\n<p>Unpledged regular is $35,495<\/p>\n<p>Pledged and unpledged:\u00a0 $363,450 (89% of goal)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">We are at a critical juncture, having to vote on the 2020 budget and commit to the internship before the end of the year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">I welcome thoughtful comments from the stewardship group and council on our status and how we move forward.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Pastor\u2019s report and Worship Team<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hi Everyone,<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">It has been and continues to be a really great Christmas season.\u00a0 We have a lot going on around here as you probably have noticed.\u00a0 The Advent services have been going very well and last week seemed to grow from week one.\u00a0 In addition we have seen amazing generosity from so many people around here.\u00a0 We are truly fortunate to have such caring people at this church.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">I have enjoyed prepping Sunday messages with the theme of the characters of the Nativity.\u00a0 I have been learning a lot myself.\u00a0 I also am encouraged by the stewardship campaign (and I notice our attendance numbers went up during stewardship.\u00a0 I expected perhaps the opposite! Thanks Wayne for amazing materials and direction.)\u00a0 Christmas services are coming quickly.\u00a0 (One week from today is Christmas Eve.)\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">I have felt a strong peace about much of what is going on around here.\u00a0 Which honestly is quite extraordinary because there are quite a few sad and odd situations going on right now surrounding our church.\u00a0 Perhaps it is the darkness that brings greater light.\u00a0 Please do pray for the shut-ins this Christmas please.\u00a0 But I am so thankful for Christmas this year.\u00a0 (I always am, but this one seems a bit different for some reason).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">On a personal note- I am doing very well but looking list of needs for the site to Randy Korus.\u00a0 She will continue working to get the pertinent information updated.\u00a0 Facebook page is doing well.\u00a0 Sarah is working with Tammie to get the Sunday School plans and is working on getting Fall\/Winter activities updated.<\/li><\/ol><p>\u00a0<\/p><ol start=\"28\"><li><strong>Life and Fellowship: <\/strong>The team met on 6\/23 and discussed items\/events that may be of interest to the congregation.\u00a0 Sarah would like to send out the activity interest survey (that was previously sent to council members for input).\u00a0 She will email the congregation and have some paper copies for those who don\u2019t use email.\u00a0 Jeff would like to see a survey link on the Facebook page.\u00a0 Pastor Kevin will announce the survey at the 8:00 a.m. on 7\/21 and the 10:00 service on 7\/28.<\/li><\/ol><p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><ol><li><strong>We Care: <\/strong>The team met last month and is getting ideas for the Fall.\u00a0 Pastor said that 1\/3 of the congregation is dealing with mental illness directly (in some way).<\/li><\/ol><p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Old nursery will still be unstaffed (there was not enough interest to get it staffed).\u00a0 There will<\/p><p>be new signage so that parents are aware that children are not to be unsupervised in the<\/p><p>nursery (she has heard that some older kids have been in there which resulted in<\/p><p>broken toys and untidiness).\u00a0 Council agreed to signage that says, \u201cWelcome to the<\/p><p>nursery.\u00a0 Please NO unsupervised children.\u201d<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Financial Peace University (David Ramsey Debt Reduction program):\u00a0 Pastor Kevin said this program is set up and ready to run.\u00a0 This program will be open to the community and is not just for the congregation.\u00a0 Just need to recruit people to attend.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>New
